The University of Papua New Guinea has officially opened its new Science Laboratory Complex at the Waigani Campus, marking a significant milestone in the university's commitment to advancing scientific research and education in Papua New Guinea.
The K15 million facility, funded through a partnership between the PNG Government and the Asian Development Bank, features modern equipment for chemistry, biology, physics, and environmental science research.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Frank Griffin said the new facility would transform the university's capacity to conduct cutting-edge research relevant to Papua New Guinea's development needs.
"This laboratory complex positions UPNG at the forefront of scientific research in the Pacific region. Our students and researchers now have access to equipment and facilities that meet international standards," Professor Griffin said.
