Community & Partners

UPNG is a public university, and the campus is part of the life of Port Moresby. Partner with a School, hire a venue, come to a public lecture, take a short course, host one of our students, reconnect as a graduate, or give.

Working With the University

Government departments, companies, churches, schools, NGOs and community groups deal with UPNG every day — for meeting space, for expertise, for graduates, and for research on the problems facing Papua New Guinea.

The pages below set out what is on offer, what it costs where there is a cost, and who to contact. If you are not sure which office you need, start with the enquiry address on the page closest to what you want to do — it will be passed on.

Alumni and Giving

Two of the four ways people deal with the University are whole-of-University pages of their own — graduates and donors are not a sub-topic of one section.

Our Partners

UPNG works under standing agreement with universities, government agencies, industry and development partners. These are some of the organisations that work with us, and what that work is.

Not an exhaustive list. Agreements are held by the Planning Division and individual Schools; contact the partnerships office to confirm the current status of any arrangement.

Elsewhere on the Site

Community-facing pages that live in other sections of the site.

  • Events

Everything happening on the Waigani and Taurama campuses, including graduations and open days.

  • Campus Map

Where the two campuses are, with directions and visitor parking.

Support UPNG

Gifts to UPNG are directed to a named fund, not to general revenue, so a donor can see what their money paid for. These are the current priorities.

Student Scholarship Fund

Fees, boarding and living costs for students who win a place at UPNG but cannot afford to take it up. The fund also carries students whose family circumstances change mid-degree.

K500 covers a semester of textbooks and materials for one student.

Library and Learning Resources

Current editions, journal access and study spaces at the Michael Somare Library and the Taurama medical library, where demand runs well ahead of the shelf.

K2,000 puts a full set of core texts into circulation for a course.

Research and Innovation

Fieldwork, laboratory consumables and postgraduate stipends for research on the problems facing Papua New Guinea — health, environment, governance and language.

K10,000 supports a postgraduate research project for a full year.
