Information and Communications Technology (ICT)

The ICT Division functions as the University's central support unit, delivering technology services and infrastructure to students, staff, and researchers. The division aims to enhance and transform how information and communication technology is utilised throughout the institution.

The ICT Division provides the technology backbone of UPNG, supporting academic, research, and administrative functions across the Waigani and Taurama campuses. The Taurama campus connects to Waigani through a virtual private network (VPN).

Internet capacity has expanded substantially over the years — from 2Mbps in 2014 to 90Mbps by 2019. The University uses Google Workspace for Education (G Suite) to power student and staff email infrastructure. The Academia ERP system, implemented in 2016, handles student information management across the institution.
