Postgraduate Research

UPNG offers Higher Degree by Research (HDR) study — Master's and PhD by research — across its research areas, under the supervision of academic staff working in the relevant field. Research candidates are admitted where a suitable supervisor and research proposal can be matched, rather than through a fixed annual intake.

Before applying, prospective candidates should identify a research area and a proposed topic, and make contact with a potential supervisor — see Supervisor Contacts. General admission requirements for postgraduate study are set out on the Postgraduate Admissions page.
