Research at the School of Business and Public Policy advances evidence-based thinking on Papua New Guinea's economy, governance, and private sector. Our academics and postgraduate researchers work closely with government, industry, and development partners to produce scholarship that informs national policy and business practice.
Research Themes
Our staff lead and supervise research across a broad spectrum of business and public policy disciplines, with particular strength in areas of national priority for Papua New Guinea.
- Pacific business development and entrepreneurship
- Public policy analysis and governance reform
- Economic sustainability and resource management
- Accounting, finance, and corporate regulation
- Development economics and the informal economy
Postgraduate Research
The School supervises Masters and doctoral candidates undertaking original research on questions facing PNG and the wider Pacific. Higher degree students are integrated into staff research programmes and benefit from access to specialised databases, seminar series, and supervision from experienced researchers.
Partnerships & Impact
We collaborate with national agencies, the private sector, and regional institutions to ensure our research translates into practical outcomes — from policy submissions and commissioned studies to executive briefings and public commentary that shapes informed debate.
