Diploma

Diploma in Comprehensive Hazards & Risk Management

Program Overview

The Diploma in Comprehensive Hazards and Risk Management was introduced in 2015 and rolled out in 2016. It is designed for students and professionals who need to understand and manage the wide range of natural and human-induced hazards affecting Papua New Guinea — including earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, landslides, floods, droughts, and industrial hazards.

The program provides practical and theoretical foundations in hazard identification, risk assessment, disaster preparedness, emergency response, and recovery planning. Papua New Guinea's location in one of the world's most seismically and volcanically active regions makes this program of immediate national significance. Graduates work in government disaster management offices, emergency services, resource companies, and development organisations.
