Bachelor

Bachelor of Arts (Major in Theatre Arts)

Open to school leaver application

Program Overview

The Bachelor of Arts majoring in Theatre Arts is part of the integrated Creative Arts program. It provides courses across five components: Artistic (drama, dance, directing, and choreography); Design and Technology (lighting for stage and film, sound design, costume and make-up, set design); Administration (arts management and business development); Creative Scriptwriting (TV, film, radio, and stage); and Theatre Theory and Media Arts Studies.

In the first two years, core courses give students a broad grounding across the interdisciplinary creative arts. In Years 3 and 4, students focus on Theatre Arts. Graduates pursue careers in theatre companies, television and film production, radio broadcasting, arts management, cultural events, and media industries throughout PNG and the Pacific.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must have successfully completed Grade 12 from a recognised institution. The following minimum grades are required for school leaver selection:

  • A grade of C or better in Language & Literature or Applied English (one subject).
  • A grade of C or better in General Mathematics or Advanced Mathematics (one subject).
  • A grade of C or better in three (3) subjects chosen from Economics, History, Geography, Physics, Chemistry or Biology.
